Les Arcs: a visionary resort
With its 4 districts (Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000), Les Arcs station is the result of the meeting of two men, Robert Blanc and Roger Godino. One is a shepherd and mountain enthusiast, the other is a polytechnician. Faced with the rise of winter sports, they decided to create a winter sports resort to revive the economic dynamism of the valley.
An architectural revolution
With a strong desire to innovate, the two designers of Les Arcs called on the architect Charlotte Perriand to design an innovative resort in harmony with nature. Thanks to its innovative vision, Les Arcs is the perfect example of the alliance of architecture and urban planning in the mountains.
Charlotte Perriand brought her vision of functional and minimalist design to the resort, in total harmony with the modern aesthetics of the time. His ideas have been implemented in the design of buildings, furniture, and even in the most subtle details.
In order to optimize the space while preserving nature, Charlotte Perriand has imagined inclined buildings, offering an exceptional panorama to all tourists.
Today, Les Arcs is recognized as an architectural heritage site and an iconic ski destination. Charlotte Perriand’s influence lives on in every corner of the resort, reminding us of her crucial role in creating this unique environment.
